The United States is kicked out of the top 20 happiest countries by 2024


The World Happiness Report (WHR) 2024 published on Wednesday crowned Finland the happiest country in the world for the seventh time in a row. cnn reported.

This year's happiest countries list was dominated by the Nordic nations, as Finland, Denmark, Iceland and Sweden took the top four spots respectively.

By contrast, Afghanistan remains at the bottom of the list of 143 countries surveyed, as the countries face ongoing humanitarian crises since the Taliban returned to power in 2020.

Additionally, for the first time, the United States and Germany have dropped from their ranks in the top 20 to 23rd and 24th place.

Meanwhile, Costa Rica and Kuwait managed to improve this time and rose to 12th and 13th place.

WHR examines the current state of happiness globally and shows how the science of happiness can explain variations in happiness between individuals and nations.

This year's World Happiness Report for 2024 takes into account factors such as health, life expectancy, freedom and corruption.
