DUBAI: As the weather in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) turns tricky with heavy rains in the Gulf nation's cities, Dubai residents have been asked to stay home and observe a day of work and remote study today.

The development comes as the emirate responds to challenging climate challenges in the metropolitan area following directives issued by the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The crown prince has ordered all government entities and private schools in Dubai to observe Tuesday as a remote work day, as the government aims to ensure the safety of its employees and citizens amid potentially adverse weather conditions.

As thunderstorms and downpours are forecast in the UAE, schools across the country will be closed on Tuesday and students will attend online classes from home. Government employees in other emirates are also expected to work remotely.

Residents are advised to use caution during the dangerous weather, with strong winds of up to 70km/h forecast until Wednesday, while motorists are urged to avoid unnecessary travel.

Authorities have also asked private sector companies to consider remote work arrangements for employees and ensure their safety during weather fluctuations.

Additionally, private schools in Dubai will conduct distance learning sessions following Sheikh Hamdan's directive.

“All Dubai government entities and private schools will work remotely on Tuesday, April 16,” said the Crown Prince of Dubai, highlighting the importance of proactive measures to safeguard public health and safety.

Dubai authorities have confirmed their willingness to manage any potential impact of the forecast weather conditions. Preventative measures have been implemented to monitor weather patterns and ensure public safety.

Overall, Dubai aims to demonstrate resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges, prioritizing the well-being of its residents and visitors above all else.
