Seoul: North Korea conducted the first test of the weapons system of the new warship “Choe Hyon-Class” that recently revealed, the state media KCNA reported Wednesday.

The cruise and anti-Air missiles were launched and artillery shot up as part of the test test attended by leader Kim Jong Un and the senior officials, according to the report.

The time for the North Korean Navy has come to choose to accelerate the nuclear weapons for maritime sovereignty and, for the good of national defense, Kim said.

The intelligence agencies of South Korea and the United States were closely monitoring the naval construction activities of North Korea, said an official in the Seoul Ministry of Defense.

More work could be needed before the new naval destroyer could lead to the sea under its own propulsion, said 38 North, a group of experts that focuses on North Korea, pointing to a satellite image of tugboats that push the ship towards a dry floating dry dock.

“The use of tugboats to move the ship in its place and back could indicate the lack of a operational propulsion system,” said the group of experts.

The state media of North Korea revealed on Saturday the 5,000 -ton war ship that said it was equipped with the “most powerful weapons.”

Kim, in a speech of the launch reported by Kcna, said the war ship would be delivered to the Navy and would go into service at the beginning of next year.

The “Choe Hyon-Class” ship is named after the anti-Japonés Choe Hyon revolutionary fighter, according to Kcna.
