Dubai: In a first historic, Brigade General Shariful M Khan, a Muslim officer born in Bangladesh, has been appointed staff director for the Golden Dome initiative in the Pentagon, a high -secret high -tech missile defense program often called to the US version of the Iron Dome Doma.
In this critical role, Brig Khan's Khan gene will supervise the strategy, policies and associations with industry, universities, national laboratories and government agencies to develop and display next -generation antimile defense systems.
The appointment of Brig Gen Khan is a historical milestone for diversity in the defense of the United States, demonstrating that a Muslim officer born in Bangladesh now leads one of the most crucial antimile defense projects in the United States: safeguarding the homeland and its allies.
Graduated in 1997 of the United States Air Force Academy, Brig Gen Khan has a vast experience in space systems, satellite operations and national recognition missions. He has commanded elite units, including the 379th space range squad and the 310th space wing at the base of the Colorado Schriever space force, which leads to almost 1,500 personnel.
Khan has been deployed twice in the Middle East, including the Silent Sentry operation in 2007, and has served in higher positions in the Pentagon, the space force of the United States and the Secretary of Defense's office.
His service has earned him the best US military awards, including the Legion of Merit, the Meritory Defense Service Medal and the Expeditionary Medal of the Armed Forces.
