A violent gunfight broke out between two passengers on a crowded Brooklyn train Thursday afternoon, during which a hanger shot the apparent agitator in the head. New York Post reported.

According to New York Police Department (NYPD) Chief Michael Kemper, the fight broke out between a 32-year-old man and an “aggressive” 36-year-old man on the northbound A Train.

According to video obtained by police, the 36-year-old man can be heard and seen goading the other man and hurling curses.

The two men soon began to fight, lunging at each other.

During the scuffle, the alleged attacker, who had what appeared to be a knife, pulled a gun from his black jacket.

After that, the train erupted in screams and the other passengers ran towards the other end.

The 32-year-old man, whose name has not been revealed, managed to wrestle the gun away from him before shooting him several times.

Once the train stopped, all the other passengers ran out, while the police arrived at the station and arrested the shooter.

According to reports, the man was shot six times and is in critical condition. Police suspect that the two men are complete strangers.

Since the beginning of the year, this is the eighth shooting that has occurred at train stations in New York City, a 700% increase over the same period compared to last year.

At least three have died, while 17 firearms arrests have been made in the subway so far this year.
