Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has condemned Israel's airstrikes in Nuseirat that killed six workers from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

Reproducing UNRWA's post recounting the deaths of six of its staff, Malala took to her X account (formerly known as Twitter) and said she is “horrified that Israel continues to attack schools in Gaza.”

The Pakistani-born activist also offered her condolences to the families of aid workers killed by Israeli forces.

“My heart goes out to the loved ones of all the victims, including the UN humanitarian workers who were tragically killed,” he added.

According to The GuardianThe UN aid organisation in Gaza said the attack on a school housing refugees in Nuseirat resulted in the highest number of deaths among its staff in a single attack by Israeli forces.

Malala also stressed that “schools and humanitarian workers must never be targeted” and that there must be “accountability for violations of international law.”

Israel's offensive against Palestinians in Gaza has killed more than 41,000 people in the strip, including women, children and the elderly, since October 7, 2023. The continued and barbaric attack has significantly damaged infrastructure, prompting women's education advocates to demand a “ceasefire” in the affected territory.
