Pakistani Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has once again called for a ceasefire in Gaza after Israel bombed another school in the occupied strip.
Some 16 people were killed and dozens more wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a UN-run school in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian officials said.
“I am devastated to see yet another Israeli attack on a school in Gaza. We cannot remain insensitive to violations of international humanitarian law and turn a blind eye to the loss of innocent lives,” Yousafzai said in a post on X.
“I reiterate the urgent call for a lasting ceasefire,” he added.
The building housed thousands of displaced people from the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, according to the Health Ministry.
Fighting continued inside Gaza, where late on Sunday the Israeli military renewed orders for residents and displaced families in several districts of Gaza City to leave their homes.
The conflict erupted on Oct. 7 when fighters led by Gaza-controlled Hamas attacked southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking around 250 hostages, according to Israeli figures.
More than 38,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's military assault, according to Gaza health officials, and the coastal enclave has been reduced to rubble.
A ceasefire seems far away as Israel remains steadfast in its goal of eliminating Hamas.
