Joliet shooting kills 7 as authorities search for suspect

Joliet authorities said Monday that at least seven people were shot and killed inside two different residences in the 2200 block of West Acres Road, according to local media reports.

“The alleged shooter, Romeo Nance, was reportedly driving a red Toyota Camry with license plate Q730412 and should be considered armed and dangerous,” police said.

According to local authorities, officials responded to residences along West Acres Road, where several people with gunshot wounds were found dead.

“Information remains fluid and constantly changing as this investigation progresses,” reads a Facebook post from authorities Monday afternoon.

The Will County Sheriff's Office said it was attempting to locate the same vehicle in connection with two additional shootings that occurred Sunday.

According to authorities, around 4:27 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at the Pheasant Run Apartments in unincorporated Joliet Township and found a man bleeding from the head with an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as 28-year-old Toyosi Bakare, was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital.

Jungle said, “he was originally from Nigeria and had been in Will County for the past three years.”
