Joe Biden urges US to confront 'bully' Vladimir Putin

US President Joe Biden on Friday called his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin a “bully” during his speech at the “Friends of Ireland” luncheon hosted by President Mike Johnson on Capitol Hill ahead of St. Patrick's Day .

Biden emphasized that the United States must not kowtow to anyone and confront the Russian leader as “history is watching” the Ukraine conflict claim thousands of lives around the world. Mirror reported.

Biden said: “I am committed to continuing to do our part. I am confident that the vast majority of members of Congress are willing to do their part and continue to urge every member in this room to stand up to Vladimir Putin. He is a bully.”

The 81-year-old Democratic presidential candidate's comments come amid his pressure on Congress to pass a $95 billion foreign military aid bill passed by the Senate, which includes military aid for Ukraine and humanitarian assistance to Loop.

While speaking at the event, Biden added: “They are very, very necessary and send a clear message: America stands for freedom and we bow to no one in the world.”

He continued: “I believe we are at a turning point, not just in American history, but in world history. The decisions we make now will determine what the next 3-4-5-6 decades will look like.

“And I think history is watching. History is watching today. Let us resolve to move forward among ourselves and with all those who struggle with all those who seek a better future, like our ancestors.”
