US President Joe Biden made a surprising revelation on Saturday about his political rival Donald Trump, who will face him in the November election, calling him obsessed with something that was not true.
Former President Donald Trump abruptly left the Oval Office in 2021 after losing the election to Joe Biden of the Democratic Party. The 77-year-old Republican faces criminal charges, one of which concerns allegedly inciting his supporters to storm the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Biden, 81, told reporters at a private fundraising event in Seattle: “It's clear that… when he lost in 2020, something broke in him.”
“Not only is he obsessed with losing in 2020, he's clearly unhinged. Just listen to what he tells people,” Biden said, referring to Trump's baseless claims about a rigged election.
Biden also acknowledged that there will be intense competition between him and business magnate Trump, who is currently embroiled in legal trouble: 91 criminal charges, four indictments and an ongoing silence trial in New York City.
Underscoring recent polls, the oldest president in American history said, “We feel good about the state of the race, but we know the race is close.”
cnn Polls on Saturday suggested that Trump is ahead of his rival, as support for the former president held steady at 49%, while Biden's stood at 43%.
