A special counsel report by Robert Hur on Thursday revealed its findings into the investigation into US President Joe Biden's handling of top-secret files during his vice presidency. bbc reported.

Investigators conducted 173 interviews with 147 witnesses, including Biden himself, who Hur said appeared to be a “sympathetic, well-intentioned old man with a bad memory.”

During the investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents found restricted files from “the garage, offices and basement of Biden's home in Wilmington, Delaware” related to military and foreign policy in Afghanistan.

While the investigation found that Biden “deliberately withheld and disclosed classified materials” after leaving office, Hur claimed the evidence was not sufficient to charge him with any crime.

Biden criticized the investigation and denied claims that his memory is “poor” and “flawed.”

Biden lashed out in front of the media, telling a reporter: “I mean well; I'm an old man and I know what I'm doing.”

“I've been president; I put this country back on its feet. I don't need your recommendation.”

As additional questions were asked about his old age and memory, Biden became even more nervous and berated the journalist. “My memory is so bad, I let you talk.”

But just minutes after defending his memory and cognition, Biden slipped up and called Egypt's president, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, “president of Mexico.” cnn reported.
