Israeli attacks kill two more as the Government of Syria reaches an agreement with Druze | News

Israel has accused Syria of not protecting drusia while Israeli forces occupy and attack parts of the country.

During the night, Israeli air attacks in Syria have killed at least two civilians, since Israel has declared that it is carrying out attacks to protect the minority Druse from government violence, a position that the community of Duze Syria rejects.

At least eight people were also reported injured after about 15 air attacks reached multiple areas in Syria after midnight on Saturday, with at least eight attacks hitting their Damascus capital.

The Israeli army confirmed the attacks on Saturday, saying that their forces “hit a military site, anti -aircraft cannons and surface missile infrastructure in the air in Syria” without giving more details or evidence.

It arrives a day after Israel carried out an attack near the presidential palace of Syria and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it would not allow Syrian forces to deploy southern Damascus or tolerate “any threat to the Druse community.”

More than 100 people were killed this week during the struggle between the pro -governmental forces and the Druss fighters in Syria.

Reporting the suburb of Jaramana de Damascus, where they took place between the pro -governmental forces and the Druss combatants, Imran Khan de Al Jazeera said there was an uncomfortable calm on Saturday.

“Many people were absolute. The combatants came from multiple directions during the clashes on Tuesday, but the security forces defeated them and then Jaramana was put under curfew for at least two days.”

He said that during that time, a Druse delegation entered to assure people that security would return.

The forces of the Syrian Government in Damascus and the Druse fortress of the province of Suwayda, in the southern part of the country, reached agreements with Druss leaders to increase security and enjoy some heavy weapons in the hands of combatants.

“A local force of the Ministry of Defense will now be responsible for security as part of the agreement here and in Suwayda,” Khan said.

“But it is said that armed fighters are dishonest elements of the struggle forces that were fighting against the Bashar al-Assad regime that fell. That is a real concern, because it feels for many Syrian people as elements are trying to destabilize the country by fusing sectarian tensions.”

He added that the Israeli claim of wanting to protect the Druse has encountered a lot of skepticism of the Druse community.

“They say they can deal with this internal problem and do not need Israel to enter. They also point out the way Drusos regularly mistreat in Israel and how they have destroyed their homes and communities to give way to Israeli illegal settlements.

On Saturday, the special envoy of the united nation for Syria Geir Pedersen said that “strongly condemns the continuous and growing violations of Israel of Syrian's sovereignty, including multiple air attacks in Damascus and other cities.”

The Israeli army, which continues to occupy parts of Syria, including the heights of the Golan, has continued to launch attacks throughout the country despite the international conviction.

“Despite the challenges, foreign threats and Israeli planes, we are present and nothing can prevent us from protecting our people or prevents us from carrying out our duty to our people,” said Ammar Al-Hariri, a commander of the Syrian security forces, from the city of Al-Soura al-Kubra in Suwayda.

Salman Olaiwi, a city resident, said people felt “relieved” when he learned about the agreement between the Government and the Druss leaders.

“How well have Israeli threats done to us? Israeli are alone. As for us, those close to us are better than those far away.”
