Influencers must obtain a license to advertise in Abu Dhabi

The capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, has introduced a new law according to which social media influencers and marketing companies must obtain a license for advertising and promotion of products and services.

Businesses involved with social media influences without a license could face a hefty fine of up to AED 10,000 from next month as the new law becomes applicable from July 1.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has set a license fee of AED 1,250 for influencers, while social media marketing companies would have to pay a license fee of AED 5,000.

“Entities that provide advertising services without a license will be subject to sanctions,” reads a notification issued by the AGGREGATE.

according to Khaleej TimesThe department said that you can easily obtain the license through the Tamm platform by accessing the 'Department of Economic Development Services'.

The local government has ordered to seek licenses from social media influencers for marketing purposes.
