The Supreme Court of India questioned Monday the Minister of Madhya Pradesh BJP, Kunwar Vijay Shah, for his comments against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, asking if they were “tears of crocodiles” to get out of legal procedures.
Together with Ala Vyomika Singh, Colonel Qureshi was one of the two officers, who informed the media about the military aspects of the Sindoor operation, the Indian media reported.
The court did not need the apology given by the minister, said the bank of Judge Surya Kant and Judge N Kotiswar Singh.
“The type of rude comments he made, completely thoughtlessly … we don't need this apology,” said the court, adding that it seemed “crocodile tears” to avoid legal procedures.
The Apex court told the minister that, being a public representative, he should use each word with a sense.
“We saw your videos; you were about to use a dirty language,” said the bank during the audience.
Madhya Pradesh state police were directed by the Court to establish a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the episode.
Madhya Pradesh Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah had referred to Colonel Sofiya Qureshi as “terrorist sister” in a video of a public speech that became viral on social networks.
“Those who widowed our daughters, send our own sister to teach them a lesson,” Shah said in an apparent reference to Colonel Qureshi after the Sindoor operation of India.
It is important to keep in mind that the Sindoor operation was carried out by India against Pakistan after the former accused the second of participation in Pahalgam's attacks, which has not been demonstrated. Pakistan, in retaliation, launched Operation Bunyan Um Marsoos against India after he attacked the country.
