The champions trophy of the International Cricket Council (ICC) is back after an eight -year parenthesis.
The last winners of the one -day day tournament (ODI), Pakistan, are to be hosts of their first CPI event from the 50th World Cup over 1996.
The eight best male teams in the world will compete in the 19 -day tournament (from February 19 to March 9), which will also see the confrontation of the archirival Pakistan and India in the group stage.
Here is a little about how the tournament and the full schedule of the game will be played:
What teams are playing at the ICC Champions Trophy?
Group A: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, New Zealand
Group B: Afghanistan, Australia, England, South Africa
What is the Champions Trophy format?
The tournament will be played in a simple round-robin format in the group stage, with the two best teams of each group they qualify for the semifinals.
Each team will receive two points for a victory, one for a “without result” or draw and none for a loss. In the case of tied points, the semifinalists will be determined in the net execution rate.
What are the places of Champions Trophy?
Pakistan will be the host of nine of the 15 games at home, while all Indian matches will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (EAU) after the refusal of the Indian government to send his team to Pakistan.
If India qualifies for the knockouts, they will play the first semifinal, which will be held in Dubai. And if India reaches the final, the most important game will move from Lahore to Dubai.
The three places of Pakistan that will be used during the tournament are the National Stadium in Karachi, the Cricket Rawalpindi stadium and the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.
