Vice President Kamala Harris has narrowed the gap with former President Donald Trump after winning her fifth poll in 24 hours, according to a recent poll from Wall Street Journal.

In the head-to-head matchup, Trump leads Harris 49% to 47% in a two-person matchup within a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

However, President Joe Biden, who withdrew from the polls and endorsed his running mate Harris on July 21, was trailing the Republican nominee by a six-point margin, according to polls. WSJ newspaper survey conducted earlier this month.

Many citizens believe that the race between Harris and Trump will likely be close and that Harris will win.

In this sense, speaking with Newsweek MagazineDan Lamb, a senior lecturer at Cornell University's Brooks School of Public Policy, said Harris won the race thanks to her powerful speeches.

“Harris won the week with strong speeches, viral social media buzz and major endorsements, and she predicts her poll standing could improve further in the near future.

“It's hard for enthusiasm to wane as attention turns to his vice presidential pick and the DNC delegate voting, which begins in early August,” Lamb added. “After that comes the DNC convention. The next few weeks could be very favorable for his polls.”

Another Syracuse University professor, Grant Davis Reeher, told the WSJ: “I'm not surprised to see the race tighten a little bit because Harris is not Biden, and Biden was on a pretty bad planning trajectory.

“Harris also has some of the characteristics that many Democrats were looking for,” Reeher said. “Her initial performance has been good and she is getting good support. The money is coming in. All of this has been widely reported in the press, which reinforces the impression of a new viability.”

“So it's not surprising that this would give her a boost,” he continued. “What I don't see, though, is her making up ground in the battleground states. But it's possible that new polls will come out that show that. Still, from what we can see, she has some ground to make up.”

Meanwhile, a Fox News A poll released Friday showed Trump is losing influence in Michigan.
