Tesla CEO Elon Musk has donated to a political group working to elect Republican candidate Donald Trump in the upcoming US election, according to a report by Bloomberg on Friday.

Although the actual amount donated has not yet been reported, it was mentioned that a “huge amount” was given to a group called America PAC.

In addition, in early March, Musk posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he was not willing to donate money to any of the candidates in the 2024 election.

He wrote: “To be very clear, I will not be donating money to any of the candidates for President of the United States.” In May, he also denied media reports that there had been talk of a possible advisory role for him in a Trump presidency.

By contrast, Biden campaign spokesman James Singer said Musk knows Trump is “a fool who will sell out America, cutting taxes while raising taxes on the middle class by $2,500.”

“Joe Biden has stood up to people like Elon and fought for the middle class his entire career, and that's why he will win in November,” Singer said in a statement.

It is worth noting that in recent years Musk has supported the Republican Party, which has influenced his reputation and Tesla sales, his greatest source of wealth.

The former US president pledged last month to abandon the Biden administration's “mandate” and support the electric vehicle industry.

“I'm a big fan of electric cars. I'm a big fan of Elon,” Trump said, adding: “He does an incredible job with Tesla.”
