Renowned global entrepreneur and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk responded to a post on his social media platform X, formerly called Twitter, about former US President Donald Trump.

One user of X, which Elon Musk bought in October 2022 for $44 billion, wrote of the former president that “it's time” for Trump to return to X.

Trump was banned from the social media platform after the January 6, 2021, riot in which his supporters stormed the Capitol over false allegations of election fraud.

The San Francisco-based microblogging site reversed its decision to reinstate the 77-year-old's account in November 2022, under Musk's leadership; However, Trump did not publish any posts until his fourth impeachment in August of last year.

The businessman-turned-politician uploaded his mugshot and wrote in the caption: “Election interference, never give up!”

Responding to the user's post, Musk, 52, responded on Wednesday: “Yes.”

The comments arrive just one day after the Washington Post reported that four-time impeached Trump offered the SpaceX CEO to buy his social media platform Truth Social last summer, but the deal did not close.

The latest report on the exchanges of both businessmen revealed that they have been communicating more than previously known.

Last week, a New York Times report revealed that Trump and Musk met privately, underscoring the financial strains on the former president's White House bid compared to Democrats.

A considerable sum of money is being spent on the 77-year-old's legal problems.

In confirming his meeting with the X CEO, Trump noted that he was unsure whether Musk would financially support his re-election.

The criminally indicted former president said last week: “I helped him; when I was president, I helped him. I like him. Obviously we have opposing views on a minor issue called electric cars. I'm all for electric cars, but “You also have to have all the alternatives.”

As discussions grew about Musk investing money in Trump's campaign, the Tesla CEO wrote on X that he “will not be donating money to any of the candidates for President of the United States.”
