With 1,075 delegates available, Donald Trump will surely get 161 remaining delegates in the next election, his campaign secretary says.
Former President Donald Trump is expected to formally clinch the Republican nomination for president next week, five days earlier than in 2020.
To win the nomination, the former president needs at least 1,215 delegates from state primaries and caucuses. With a total of 1,075 delegates in his possession, Trump is looking to get 161 delegates that are at stake in upcoming races in Georgia, Hawaii, Mississippi and Washington.
Karoline Leavitt, Trump campaign press secretary, is confident that Donald Trump appears confident of winning the required number of delegates, this time sooner than in 2020. “The primaries are over and President Trump will clinch the nomination sooner than in 2020.” . ,” she said.
“The American people have spoken, and this is nothing short of historic. We now look forward to defeating the corrupt Joe Biden and achieving a resounding victory for the greatest president in our country's history, President Donald J. Trump.”
With the exception of Vermont, where presidential candidate Nikki Haley prevailed, Donald Trump's majority victories on Super Tuesday have cemented his position. Trump's former ambassador to the United Nations, Haley, dropped out of the race this week without endorsing him.
Nikki Haley won the District of Columbia primary.
Donald Trump's delegate count continues to rise and he is increasingly likely to be the Republican Party's nominee. Official confirmation of him is expected at the Republican Convention in Milwaukee in July.
