Former US president and presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump poured out his heart Monday about punishment in the hush money case scheduled for July 11, after being convicted last week in a Manhattan court.

While speaking to Fox News for the first time after the 12-member jury's verdict, Trump, 77, said he is fine with prison time or house arrest.

The four-time defendants also added: “The other day I saw one of my lawyers on TV saying, 'Oh no, you don't want to do that to the president.' I told him: Don't beg for anything.

However, he also said he doesn't think the public will put up with it. “I'm not sure the public will support it.”

“I think it would be difficult for the public to accept, you know, at a certain point, there is a breaking point,” Donald Trump said.

The decision was issued Thursday and made history as Trump became the first former US president to be criminally convicted.

For now, Trump remains out of prison, as he told television that he did nothing wrong and criticized “the sick people involved” in his conviction.

“I'm fighting for the Constitution,” Trump said, adding that the trial had been harder on his family than on himself.
