Don Lemon warns that his relationship is now strained with Elon Musk and his X platform
As world famous billionaire and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk terminated his contract with the former cnn host on his platform
In his video message on Instagram, the 58-year-old TV journalist said: “Elon Musk is angry at me and I just released a statement about what happened between him, me and the interview that apparently bothers him so much.”
“But make no mistake about it,” he added, urging people to watch his interview with the X CEO on March 18.
He also warned that his relationship is now under strain with Elon and X.
Some of Lemon's interview clips have been released in which the journalist asks about the growing hate speech towards X and asks if the CEO has any responsibility to moderate it.
Musk, 52, responded: “I don't have to answer this question. I don't have to answer questions from journalists. Don, the only reason I'm doing this interview is because you're on platform X and I asked for it. Otherwise, I wouldn't do this interview.”
He also added that he is constantly criticized and that he doesn't care about anything.
Lemon said in his video message: “I just want you to know that I made this agreement because not only do I believe in freedom of speech but I believe this was the best possible opportunity for the work I'm doing to reach the greatest number of people.” ”
The journalist added: “I thought the first-person interview was obviously Elon Musk, the man who calls himself a free speech absolutist.”
Reacting to his firing, Lemon noted that “free speech absolutism” doesn't apply when it comes to questions about Musk from people like him.
According to Lemon Wednesday, the contract was canceled hours after his interview with the richest man in the world.
Lemon said Musk texted him: “Contract terminated.”
