The president of Lionel Messi's Inter Miami soccer club, David Beckham, has filed a lawsuit against hundreds of sellers in Asia who earned exorbitant amounts using cheap copies of the former English player's clothing.
There were two lawsuits filed Wednesday by DB Ventures, in charge of Inter Miami's main business operations in the United States.
The products of David Beckham's venture include clothing, watches, perfumes, sunglasses, video games, toys, soccer balls and other sporting goods and these products were being counterfeited in online stores such as Amazon, eBay, etc.
DB Ventures is demanding $2 million from each of these sellers and maintains that these people are deceiving customers.
The current lawsuit comes a month after the 49-year-old former soccer player won a $300 million case in the same US court against counterfeit sellers.
The judge in his initial ruling issued a temporary restraining order and froze the defendants' assets.
brand reported quoting a source: “Authentic Brands wants to put an end to this problem and prevent people from selling counterfeits of David's products.”
The report adds: “They pride themselves on the quality of their products and scam people without their knowledge.”
