  • The move comes after a perceived “shocking increase” in extremist activity.
  • People on the 'banned' list will face automatic refusal of entry into the UK.
  • Protesters of the war between Israel and Hamas were urged to ensure that their actions are not exploited by extremists.

The UK government is formulating plans to ban the entry of hate preachers with extremist views from countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan and Indonesia. The Daily Telegraph reported.

The government, expressing concern about what it perceives as a “shocking increase” in extremist activity, is actively working to identify the most dangerous extremists abroad, with the intention of including them on visa warning lists. Under the proposed measures, people on these lists would face automatic refusal of entry into the UK.

This development follows an impassioned speech by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at 10 Downing Street, where he highlighted the threat that extremists pose to the country's democratic and multi-religious values.

Sunak affirmed the government's commitment to stopping those who seek to undermine these values from entering the nation, saying: “The Home Secretary has given instructions that if those here on visas decide to spew hate at protests or try to intimidate people “We will take away your right to be here.”

As well as addressing hatemongers, Sunak urged demonstrators protesting the conflict between Israel and Hamas to ensure their actions are not exploited by extremists.
