Boeing faces another major incident that endangered hundreds

In another flight incident, US aerospace giant Boeing's plane made an emergency landing in Indonesia when the passenger plane's engine caught fire after taking off from the ground.

A total of 468 people were traveling on the Boeing plane traveling to Saudi Arabia from Makassar, a city in the Southeast Asian country.

The airline said the incident unfolded at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

The video was captured by someone close and went viral on social media showing the Boeing 747-400 plane catching fire when its wheels came off the runway.

Fortunately, the pilot of the aircraft returned to the airport.

“The decision was made by the pilot in command immediately after takeoff, considering engine problems that required further examination after sparks of fire were observed in one of the engines,” said Garuda president Irfan Setiaputra. AFP.

No one was injured during the incident and authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.

The Virginia-based company is in trouble after several incidents arose in the air that endangered the safety of hundreds of passengers. A day earlier, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) said it was considering prosecuting the company for two fatal crashes involving its 737 Max aircraft.

The accident (one that occurred in Indonesia in 2018 and another in Ethiopia in 2019) killed a total of 346 people.

The heated scrutiny was sparked after a new 737 Max saw a door explode after takeoff in January.
