President Joe Biden used his positive COVID-19 test as a political statement by posting “I'm sick” on X (formerly known as Twitter). This action was aimed at former President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk.

The 81-year-old president's post was accompanied by a link to a donation page for Biden's 2024 campaign. This message was directed at Musk and his wealthy friends who are willing to “buy” the election.

The owner of electric carmaker Tesla had previously endorsed the Republican candidate in the upcoming November election.

Following the attack on the former president, Musk backed Trump on X and wished him a speedy recovery.

On the contrary, the billionaire has also shown dissatisfaction with Biden's immigration policies and has favored Trump's reelection bid by donating to a political group in charge of electing the Republican representative, according to reports. Bloomberg.

The president issued the statement shortly after testing positive on Wednesday, a day after attending the NAACP National Convention in Las Vegas, where he criticized Trump's policies.

“He (Biden) will return to Delaware, where he will self-isolate and continue to fully discharge his duties during that time,” the White House said in its official statement on Wednesday (local time).

Biden is, however, vaccinated and has also received booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, most recently in September 2023, the White House said.
