A fire breaks out in a building in the southern district of Mangaf, an area densely populated by foreign workers in Kuwait.
At least 35 people have died in a building fire in Kuwait, according to state media.
Wednesday morning's fire in the southern district of Mangaf also injured at least 15 other people, the KUNA news agency reported.
“The building where the fire occurred was used to house workers and there were a large number of workers there. Dozens of people were rescued, but unfortunately there were many deaths as a result of inhaling smoke from the fire,” a senior police commander told state television.
“We always alert and warn against” overcrowding too many workers in housing, he said, without providing details about the workers' type of employment or where they are from.
Authorities said the fire had been brought under control and they were investigating its cause.
