Turkish Airlines launches translation devices for customers at airports in Turkey and the UK – Business Traveler

Turkish Airlines is deploying dozens of SmartMic language translation devices to help improve communication between customers and staff.

Passengers can speak into the devices in their native language, which will then translate what was said into the staff members' first language.

The devices feature seven-inch screens on each side, allowing both passengers and staff to follow translations in real time.

A total of 100 devices, supporting 52 languages and 72 accents, have been introduced at the airline's hub in Istanbul as well as regional airports including Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman and Izmir.

Turkish Airlines said it would also “shortly” launch the technology in the UK, with plans to expand coverage to its entire global network during 2024.
