Thai Airways to install Royal Silk seats on A320s – Business Traveler

Star Alliance airline Thai Airways has confirmed that it will install Royal Silk business class recliners in a 2-2 configuration on its legacy Airbus A320 aircraft from Thai Smile.

These aircraft, the first narrowbody aircraft in THAI's fleet in decades, are deployed on the airline's domestic routes and to select regional destinations.

When Thai Airways incorporated subsidiary Thai Smile into its core operation, it also took over Thai Smile's A320 aircraft. He initially kept Thai Smile's “premium” cabin on the plane, which meant a 3-3 configuration with a middle seat blocked in Royal Silk, but this proved unpopular with his passengers.

On the other hand, Thai Airways continues its rapid expansion in accordance with its rehabilitation plan. This will mean the incorporation of three more Airbus A350-900 aircraft of new technology in the current first quarter.

The flag carrier recently committed to a firm order for 45 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, plus 35 options, and also signed leasing agreements for additional A350-900s, 787-9s and its first A321 neo aircraft.

THAI recently said it would increase flight frequency to Sydney, Taipei, Tokyo, Kunming, Chengdu and Phuket during the 2024 summer flight schedule and would resume flights to Perth and Colombo from March 31, as well as Milan and Oslo from July 1st.

The Bangkok-based airline further confirmed that it plans to launch a new route to Kochi, India.

India is among Thailand's 'top five' inbound tourism markets, but so are China and Russia, with Thailand recently signing an agreement with the latter two to allow stays of up to 90 days to further boost tourism, while Indians currently enjoy visa exemption.
