At the end of November I prepared for one of the most common pastimes of any nature-loving Californian.
I got up early and walked a dozen steps to my laptop, where I quickly logged in. Recreation.gov to secure a campground near Yosemite National Park for Memorial Day weekend. It's the kind of vacation that requires booking six months in advance, when the coveted campsites become available.
This is the reality of camping in beautiful California. It requires intense planning, often well in advance.
Fortunately for those of us in Los Angeles County, many of the campgrounds in the Angeles National Forest are first come, first serve. That means if you get in your car on a Friday afternoon with your cooler, tent, and camping gear, there's probably an empty campsite waiting for you.
I recently featured nine of the approximately 30 campgrounds we have to choose from in Los Angeles County. I'd love to know about your favorite place. Maybe I included it on my list. Maybe you're glad I didn't. Maybe, just maybe, you'll be willing to share it in the form below.
