The technology was jointly developed by Lufthansa Technik and coatings manufacturer BASF, and SWISS is considering expanding its application to more long-haul aircraft in the medium-term future.
Claus Bauer, technical director of fleet management at SWISS, commented on the news:
“We are very pleased with the results we have achieved with AeroSHARK to date. We are also proud to be the first airline in the world to have equipped an entire fleet of aircraft with this innovative technology.
“It takes approximately one week for each aircraft to apply the AeroSHARK film, which requires high precision work by our staff. “I am delighted that our commitment to this technology is yielding such positive results and allows us at SWISS to take another substantial step towards making our flight operations more sustainable.”
