Taiwan's STARLUX Airlines will add a five-week route between Taipei and Jakarta starting September 1, 2024.
From Taipei, flights will depart every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 08:10 and arrive at Jakarta's Soekarno Hatta Airport at 12:30 after a flight time of five hours and 20 minutes.
From Jakarta, STARLUX flights will return to Taipei Taoyuan Airport at 1:30 p.m. and land back in the Taiwanese capital in 2010.
STARLUX will deploy an Airbus A321neo on the Jakarta route, with eight lie-flat seats in business class in a 2-2 configuration and 180 seats in economy class in a 3-3 configuration.
The airline will become the third full-service Taiwanese airline to operate Taipei-Jakarta flights. Both China Airlines (CAL) and EVA Air fly to Jakarta several times a day with larger wide-body aircraft.
STARLUX began operations in January 2020 and has since built a fleet of 22 aircraft, with many more on order.
The airline currently has 13 A321neos, with six more confirmed to join its fleet in the future.
On its longer routes, STARLUX operates new technology A350-900 and soon A350-1000 aircraft, as well as A330neos.
The airline also recently announced a new double daily service from its Taipei base to Hong Kong, starting this summer with the A350-900 and A330neo fleet.
