Singapore Airlines (SIA) low-cost carrier Scoot has unveiled the first six routes for its new Embraer E190-E2 fleet.
Scoot will take its first new-tech E190-E2 in April, and is expected to enter service on May 7 on the Singapore-Krabi route.
Scoot will deploy the E190-E2 on two new routes, Koh Samui and Sibu, as well as existing destinations in Malaysia and Thailand, comprising Hat Yai, Kuantan, Krabi and Miri.
With the introduction of Koh Samui and Sibu, Scoot's network will increase to 69 destinations. SIA's now-defunct subsidiary SilkAir used to fly to Koh Samui with A319s.
The first of its nine fully economical E190-E2 aircraft is expected to be delivered from Embraer's manufacturing plant in Brazil in April. This first aircraft, dubbed Explorer 3.0, will take over existing flights to Krabi and Hat Yai from May 7, increasing flight frequencies to both destinations to 10 times per week.
The second E2 aircraft, also scheduled for delivery in April, will enable Scoot to operate routes to the four additional destinations. Daily flights to Koh Samui will begin from May 13, while frequency increases to Miri and Kuantan will increase to four times a week from June 5.
“We are delighted to present the first six destinations served by our new Embraer E190-E2 to cities in Malaysia and Thailand, including two exciting new additions to our network. This marks a new chapter of growth for Scoot and the SIA Group and a significant step in strengthening our presence and connectivity in the region,” said Leslie Thng, CEO of Scoot.
“The expansion of our fleet reflects our confidence that demand for air travel will continue to grow in this region. “We will continue to seek new opportunities and push boundaries to connect our customers to even more destinations at the same great value in the future.”
Scoot currently operates a fleet of 50 aircraft, including A320 neo and A321 neo on regional flights, as well as more than 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft deployed on its longer flights, including to Europe.
