Mumbai International Airport handles highest monthly traffic in its history

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has set exceptional new standards this festive season. Proudly showing a remarkable 112 percent recovery in December, passenger traffic surpasses December 2019 pre-pandemic levels (4.37 million). The airport recorded its highest ever monthly traffic of 4.88 million passengers traveling through CSMIA, growing by almost 13 percent compared to December 2022 (4.33 million). CSMIA's continued expansion to newer destinations, along with exemplary services and hospitality, is a testament to growing passenger confidence in the airport.

The highest single day passenger traffic movement of the month was observed on December 12, 2023 with 165,258 passengers traveling through CSMIA, with 841.66 arrivals and 81,092 departures. During the month, a total of 28,462 ATMs were observed, 7,287 International ATMs and 21,175 on routes.

In December 2023, CSMIA's passenger distribution showed a dominant 47 percent from the Middle East, followed by 28 percent from the Asia Pacific region and 15 percent from Europe. Delhi, Bengaluru and Goa were among the top three domestic destinations for CSMIA, while Dubai, London and Abu Dhabi remained the preferred international options. Notably, on the bustling Mumbai – Delhi route alone, CSMIA recorded a substantial traffic of 622,424 passengers. Among airlines, IndiGo, Air India and Vistara were leading both domestic and international routes.

December's stellar performance not only reflects an impressive rebound, but also serves as a testament to its resilience and unwavering commitment to providing world-class service, concluding the year with resounding success.
