Kuala Lumpur-based oneworld member Malaysia Airlines has introduced its new Airbus A330neo seats in business and economy class as part of its fleet modernization plan, ahead of the scheduled delivery of the first aircraft in the third quarter of 2024.
The new A330neo cabins will feature many “firsts” for the airline, including suites with individual privacy doors in business class.
Malaysia Airlines has chosen Collins Aerospace Elevation business class seating and each A330neo will feature 28 suites.
The airline has orders for 20 A330neo aircraft.
Economy class will have 269 seats, including 24 with additional legroom. For this cabin, Malaysia Airlines opted for the Recaro CL3810 seat model that promises ergonomic design and improved support, along with thoughtful amenities such as a coat rack, cup holder and “ample storage space.”
Malaysia Airlines has also announced an expansion of its network, with new routes from its Kuala Lumpur base to Chiang Mai in Thailand, Da Nang in Vietnam and Male in the Maldives, all operated by its fleet of two-class Boeing 737s.
Daily flights to Male will begin on August 1, followed by five weekly flights to Chiang Mai from August 15 and a daily service to Da Nang from September 24.
Malé will once again join the airline's network as its 13th destination in South Asia, while Chiang Mai and Da Nang will increase Malaysia Airlines' ASEAN network to 16 destinations.
