JetBlue launches New York-Edinburgh service – Business Traveler

JetBlue has launched its latest transatlantic route, with daily seasonal flights between New York JFK and Edinburgh.

The route represents the airline's fifth transatlantic destination, joining Amsterdam, London, Paris and the airline's recently launched seasonal summer service to Dublin.

Flights depart JFK at 9:12 p.m. and arrive in Edinburgh at 9:30 a.m. the following day, with the return leg departing the Scottish capital at 12:30 p.m. and landing back in New York at 3:06 p.m.

The route, which is being operated by JetBlue's A321neo aircraft with 16 Mint Suites and 144 economy seats, is on par with Delta's seasonal service on the JFK-Edinburgh route.

In addition to seasonal services to Dublin and Edinburgh, the airline also currently operates year-round flights from Boston and New York JFK to Gatwick and Heathrow.

However, as recently discussed on our forum JetBlue suspends flights to Gatwick for the upcoming winter seasonin addition to cutting the frequency of its flights from JFK to Paris CDG.

Commenting on the launch of the route, John Lamont, UK Government Minister for Scotland, said:

“Our relationship with the United States is special. We welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors to Scotland and the wider UK from North America each year and it is also our main export market.

“This new direct JetBlue route from Edinburgh to New York City will truly help strengthen the ties between our two great countries.

“Last month I walked down Sixth Avenue with other representatives of the UK Government as part of the annual Tartan Day celebrations in Manhattan, promoting our most important exports – whisky, energy and financial services – and our rich culture.

“This flight route will make it easier for US visitors to come and see for themselves what an exceptionally attractive destination we have here, while also making travel easier for Scottish visitors who want to explore the Big Apple and beyond.”
