Japan Airlines (JAL) has confirmed that it will begin operating its Tokyo Haneda-Doha route from March 31, 2024.
The airline first announced its plans to operate this service last July.
This new daily service will mark the Japanese airline's first direct flight to the Middle East. Ticket sales for the summer 2024 schedule have begun.
JL059 will depart Haneda at 10:50 p.m. and land in Doha the next day at 4:40 a.m. JL050 will then take off from Doha at 7:15 a.m. and land back in Haneda at 11:55 p.m.
An average round-trip Flex fare between Haneda and Doha in business class will cost ¥514,000, while a Flex fare in economy class will cost approximately ¥324,000.
These flights will be operated on a codeshare basis with Qatar Airways.
Through the international network of Qatar Airways, a member of the oneworld alliance, its passengers will be able to connect to other destinations in the Middle East, Africa and South America from Doha.
Meanwhile, Qatar Airways resumed its non-stop service between Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) and Hamad International Airport on June 1, 2023. Those flights will continue and JAL will also codeshare on them. In addition to Qatar Airways' Narita-Doha service, Haneda operations increased their frequency to the Tokyo metropolitan area from seven to 14 flights per week.
Although JAL will deploy its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on this route, it also recently confirmed that it had received its first A350-1000 from Airbus' delivery center in Toulouse, France. It began using that plane on the Haneda-New York JFK route in January. JAL has ordered 31 A350 aircraft, of which 18 A350-900 and 13 A350-1000. The airline has operated the A350-900 on high-density Japanese domestic routes since 2019.
