IHG signs Staybridge Suites properties in Antwerp, Belfast and Budapest – Business Traveler

IHG has announced three new European signings for its extended stay Staybridge Suites brand.

Upcoming properties in Antwerp, Belfast and Budapest will add more than 380 rooms to the brand's portfolio.

Liverpool was the first UK location for the Staybridge Suites concept in 2008.and eight of the brand's ten European properties are located in UK cities, including Birmingham, Brighton, Cardiff, Dundee, London and Newcastle.

Belfast will now join the list, with a 132-bedroom hotel located within the Bedford Yard mixed-use development (pictured above) opposite BBC Northern Ireland headquarters, and due to open at the end of 2027.

The 99-room Staybridge Suites Antwerp will also open in late 2026, followed by the 152-room Staybridge Suites Budapest – Parkside in 20207, located in the city's 13th district.

The new signings follow the opening of Staybridge Suites Cannes Center in November; The brand will also debut in Spain later this year with the opening of Staybridge Suites Málaga within the Urban Sky development.

There are currently 324 Staybridge properties worldwide, with another 171 in the pipeline and scheduled to open in the next three to five years.

Earlier this year, IHG unveiled new, slimmer room prototypes for its Staybridge, Candlewood and Atwell Suites brands.

In the case of Staybridge Suites, the new Smart Studio room configuration offers developers the option of a room space that measures 13 feet instead of the current 16 feet, with optimized kitchen equipment and accessories and optimized joinery cabinets .

However, initially the new designs will only be available for developments in the United States.

Commenting on the news, Willemijn Geels, vice president of development for Europe at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said:
