IHG Hotels & Resorts establishes presence in northeast India with the signing of the Holiday Inn in Guwahati

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a management agreement with Yuvaan Developers Private Limited for Holiday Inn Guwahati in the northeast region of India. Set to open in January 2028, the 150-room new-build hotel marks a significant step towards IHG's expansion strategy in secondary markets, in line with the growing demand for quality branded accommodation in the country.

A gateway destination to northeast India, Guwahati is now a thriving economic hub boasting flourishing special economic zones, established industrial manufacturing areas, and healthcare and education sectors. The city is also a popular tourist destination in the region, attracting domestic and international travelers looking to visit tea gardens, wildlife sanctuaries and ancient temples. The destination is a focal point for investment, trade and tourism, contributing to guest appeal in the corporate and leisure segments.

Strategically located along Azara Road, Holiday Inn Guwahati will offer easy access from Guwahati Airport and the main city centre. Apart from offering modern and well-appointed rooms, Holiday Inn Guwahati will offer three dining options, including an all-day dining room, a bar and a lobby lounge. For guests looking to rest and relax, the hotel will feature an exclusive gym and swimming pool. Holiday Inn Guwahati will also feature four meeting rooms and a banquet hall, along with exclusive amenities for social gatherings and MICE opportunities.

Commenting on the announcement, Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are excited to bring the world-renowned Holiday Inn brand to the bustling city of Guwahati. Guwahati is one of the fastest growing cities in the northeastern part of the country and has immense potential for trade, commerce and tourism. We are keen to take advantage of this growing demand and provide true hospitality to travelers visiting the city.

He added: “The rapid expansion of IHG brands in the country is in line with growing demand and the growing potential of secondary markets. “We are strategically introducing our brands into newer markets to fill the gap of need for quality brand accommodation.”
