How to have the best Sunday in Los Angeles, according to Ty Dolla Sign

For Ty Dolla Sign, the perfect Sunday begins in heaven, traveling back to Los Angeles from where his career last took him. The singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist lives in constant movement; Our interview had some interruptions because he was preparing to fly to Las Vegas, where he would perform at a club that same night.

“I'm about to be at the airport in about 17 minutes,” he said, his signal cutting out. “Do you want me to hit you back?”

Born Tyrone Griffin Jr., Ty Dolla Sign is known for his raspy voice and memorable hooks. Last fall, he released his fourth studio album, “Tycoon,” featuring features from YG, ASAP Rocky, Chlöe, Lil Wayne and Leon Thomas and more. He then kicked off 2026 by releasing a combined version of the album on the streaming platform Hotcue.fm.

Awards season has been just as active. Ty Dolla Sign is seeking his seventh Grammy nomination, this time for his melodic rap performance for his collaboration with JID. EZMNY (Easy Money), the record label that Ty Dolla Sign co-founded with A&R executive Shawn Barron in 2021, also earned 10 additional nominations across its roster, including six for Leon Thomas and four for Bizzy Crook.

“We're the best team,” the Los Angeles native said of his team. “We just want to continue to be the best and do the best we can to improve the music and keep the standard high.”

The 2026 Grammy Awards take place on Sunday, the same day his daughter turns 21, so naturally, she'll be joining him for the special occasion. He will also perform a pre-show performance before the ceremony.

Just before his plane took off, Ty Dolla Sign shared what a perfect Sunday in Los Angeles would be like: going to his favorite smoothie bar, making new music at his resort, and enjoying a simple Italian dinner.

This interview has been lightly edited and condensed for length and clarity.

5 am: wake up on a plane

A perfect Sunday for me would start with landing early on a plane in Los Angeles. Since I'll already be up, I can take my calls very early, which is convenient.

11am: lifting weights with my PT

Then I would go straight home and my trainer would arrive at my house around 11am or noon. After that we worked out in my home gym. I've been working with my trainer since before Ty Dolla Sign. We've been training together on and off for about 15 or 20 years. I'm the kind of person who thinks, yeah, having six pack abs is cool and all, but eating good food is also one of my loves. If a girl wants to deal with me, she's going to have to know certain times, I'll be the guy who works out super and sometimes I want to eat for three years and I might get a little fat. If you love me, you love me. If you don't, walk away. [laughs]

2 pm: Have a healthy shake from Body Energy Club

Afterwards, I would shower and if I have to make more calls or answer emails, I will take care of that. Then I would go to this place called Body energy clubthat has these smoothie bowls and acai on the fire. They have the most natural ingredients. Green goodness is great. It has avocado, spinach, banana and some other sweets. It doesn't taste unpleasant at all, but it's super healthy. Then there's the Blueberry Crumble which I love, which tastes like French Toast Crunch with blueberries. It is fire but also healthy. And last but not least, I like mango with turmeric. That's the one I get when I need to heal and I've been crazy. [laughs]

3 pm: Go to the studio

After that, I would head to my compound and probably just make some music. I could attend a soccer game while I work.

10:00 p.m.: A simple Italian dinner

Depending on when I leave the studio, I order or go out to dinner. There are some restaurants that I love. If we talk about Italian, I would go to Giorgio Baldi in the Palisades. If it got late, I would go to good boy. They also have Italian food. I only go to places that give me a private room and don't try to “rap” me, meaning they don't try to charge me more because they know I'm an artist.

At Giorgio Baldi, I like the ravioli that contains corn, which is what they are famous for. They have so many good things so I order a bunch of things and then I try a little bit of each thing and that's how I like it because that's how I like it. Wherever I go, I like to order meat, fish, chicken and vegetables just like I cook at home. I don't have to eat it all, but it's better if I bring a lot of people so we can all share. It's like when I'm on a diet and trying to stay slim. If not, then my favorite food is a hamburger. As for Nice Guy, they have chicken parmesan, but I'm a weirdo, I eat chicken parmesan without parmesan. I found another person who is like me and it's YG because we are both in “No cheese.” It was fun to discover that he was the same way. After that, he would call it a night.
