How to have the best Sunday in Los Angeles, according to Craig Robinson

Actor, comedian and musician Craig Robinson (“The Office,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Hot Tub Time Machine”) is candid about his ideal Sunday in Los Angeles. “He's at home relaxing,” he said. “My day is a blank canvas.”

The star of “Killing It,” a two-season comedy in which he plays a fictional version of himself fighting pythons (all 18 episodes are currently streaming on Peacock), blames a desire to relax at home for spending too much time. on the road.

That has less to do with acting, he said, and more to do with the concerts he's been doing with his band Nasty Delicious, including performing in his hometown of Chicago last month for the 312 Comedy Fest.

In Sunday Funday, the people of Los Angeles tell us step by step their ideal Sunday in the city. Find ideas and inspiration on where to go, what to eat and how to enjoy life on the weekends.

Robinson says what In fact what he likes to do in his free time (jumping concerts) it's not easy to cram him into a specific place or day of the week. Still, the longtime Los Angeles resident (he moved to Southern California from Chicago in 1999) shared specific things to do on Sundays.

“I love going to concerts,” Robinson said. “I went to five Earth Wind & Fire and Lionel Richie concerts this year; I was going to go to a sixth, but they pushed me and I had to leave. I'm going to see Lionel Richie in the Bahamas next week; He will perform in the Bahamas with Sheryl Crow and Nile Rodgers in a two-day festival. So yes, concerts are my thing.”

When he's not dancing on the ceiling with Richie, or making his own music, this is what Robinson's painted blank canvas of a Sunday would look like.

10 am: mountain bike – on the street

If I'm in the city, I'd probably get up and take a bike ride to some park. I have a mountain bike, but I ride it. on the street.

Noon: Head to Crossroads Kitchen

After finishing my training at home, I will go to Crossroads kitchen for brunch; It's not that I'm vegan, but I enjoy it. There is one [near] Woodland Hills and other [near] West Hollywood. I go to both. I could eat chicken and waffles, the [tagliatelle] The bolognese is crazy and they have these little cigarettes.[-shaped] things that have that impossible flesh in them. And I would have a kale salad.

1:15 p.m.: window shop or watch a movie

I usually only shop at DXL – that's my option – but I could window shop in Beverly Hills and if something really appeals to me, I'll splurge. But I'm building a home gym right now, so that's been my splurge lately.

If I don't do that, maybe I'll go see a movie at the theater. “Maestro” looks great, but it's on Netflix. Of the movies that are released right now, I would go see “Trolls [Band Together]“Because trolls make me laugh.

3 pm: Go Greek (salad)

After that, I look at a Greek salad Greek.

8:30 p.m.: Hit the jam for a set.

Then I would probably go do a comedy set (I've been doing that almost every night) either in the Improvisationhe Laughter factory either the comedy store. But usually it is improvisation.

Part of my act is musical and I get a lot of audience participation. I might have them sing along with Bon Jovi or Gloria Gaynor, and then I'll pick a song that maybe only one person, if they know it at all, knows. The other part [of my act] It's just hitting them with nonsense; surprising them with things they wouldn't hear in a normal conversation.

If it's a 7pm show, I'd probably get there around 8:30 or 8:40, and if this is my perfect Sunday, I'd be there for an hour.

9:30 p.m.: Watch 'The Toledo Show'

after giving [some entertainment]then it's my turn to receive, so I'll head to Santa Monica to catch “The Toledo Show” in harvelle's – it's a club that has live music – and this Toledo guy used to be a choreographer with Janet Jackson. He has these burlesque girls dancing while he plays cool music with some cool musicians.

11 pm: Relax with some YouTube

When I get home, I can play with the camera a bit, listen to some podcasts, or watch some YouTube videos. It's pretty varied, but right now some of my favorite YouTubers are [comedian, actor and radio host] Corey Holcomb and [blogger and social media influencer] O'Shay Duke Jackson.

1:30 am: Go to bed

It's time for me to say my prayers and go to bed.
