How to have the best Sunday in Los Angeles, according to Chris Paul

Before Chris Paul was changed to Los Angeles Clippers in 2011, he had a stereotyped vision of the city.

“When I arrived as a visitor, we always stayed at the Ritz-Carlton in the sports port, and every player, all [we] Did was going to Rodeo Drive the day before the game or other things, “says Paul, who began his career in the NBA playing with the New Orleans Hornets in 2005.” That was all that I thought it was. I thought everything was very Hollywood, Glitz and Glamor, so I never wanted to come here to live. “

On Sunday Funday, the people of Los Angeles give us a play per game of their ideal Sunday in the city. Find ideas and inspiration about where to go, what to eat and how to enjoy life on weekends.

But once the veteran shipowner and his family found a home with a pool, a non -negotiable for the native of North Carolina, and settled in their new environment, grew to love the city. So much so that his wife, Jada Crawley, and his children of now adolescence continued to live in Los Angeles when he went to play for the Houston Rockets in 2017.

When the news came last month that he would return to the Clippers of Los Angeles, a dream that says “manifested”, Paul was full of emotion.

“Over the years, he became home,” says Paul, whose fans call him with love “CP3”. I was sitting in a conference room in the intuit dome, the clippers' sand, during our zoom call. “My family here is fine and is fine, but also my community. If you live somewhere and call him home for a while, you make friends like a family, so being far away, I lost those relationships.”

Below is a game plan for the perfect Sunday of Paul in Los Angeles, involves going to a Brunch place in Soul Food after the church with his family, practicing his swing in a driving range and organizing a game night. Here is the play.

This interview has been slightly edited by length and clarity.

6 am: hits the gym
I am one of the first elevators. I am at 6 in the morning in the gym daily. I would do a gym training at home. That is not negotiable. Then I would have a small breakfast later. I would probably have a bit of French toast. That is my favorite. It would also have some scrambled eggs, sauteed spinach and some fruit on the side.

8:30 am: Church with the family
I really had the perfect Sunday [recently]. I dressed and went to church. I was me, my wife, my daughter, my son and two of his friends who spent the night, my brother and his wife's family, and my two cousins that brought their friends. We were 16 of us. We decided to go at the service of 8:30 am in Believe in the Pastor Lindsey is great. I love people there. Obviously, given my schedule, I can't go every Sunday, but almost every time I have been there so far, it is as if the message were something I needed to hear.

11 am: soul food brunch
After the church, the place we would go is Harold and Belle's. I know the family that has the restaurant and is very moving. They make these fried fungi that I definitely have to have. It really feels at home.

2 PM: Practice my swing in the management field
It is fun because it will be one of the two things. My wife and daughter will definitely want to go to Century City or the Topanga mall. They like to buy. Then, if they went to the shopping center, I would probably go to the driving field and hit some golf balls. I am a member in a couple of courses, He Country Caballero Club and Sherwod Country Club. I have been playing golf since 2009. It is the best thing that has been. I grew up playing basketball with my brother and my dad, and now we can't obviously do a lot together, so for years, this is how we have spent time. We go out and play golf together. I had the opportunity to play with a couple of friends here in Los Angeles with whom I had not played in years. [I appreciate] The camaraderie and the time you spend in the golf course.

7 PM: Nobu dinner
After that, I probably have to relax in the house a little and prepare for dinner. I'm probably going to Nobu In Malibu with my family. I always have my crew with me. If I'm not in Nobu, I'm in BLVD steak. I like crunchy rice and salmon avocado, which is like sashimi, but they do it with avocado. In blvd steak, they have this chopped salad that is incredible. Do you know my favorite food that I cannot say no at any time? French fries. I am a French connoisseur of Fry. I like the edges to be a bit crispy.

9:30 pm: invites everyone and plays onze
After dinner, everyone will return to my house and we will play this game called Onze. Everyone receives 11 letters. There are six rounds and for every two players, you need a deck. We play this game every night.

Since I entered the NBA, on each flight, we played this game called Boray [also known as Bourré]. It is almost like swords. It's like the NBA game. Onze is surprising because sometimes we will have 15 or 20 people in our house and we will only configure different tables. Then, whatever happens throughout the day, that will be the night cup. We will have Good eating snacks [Editor’s note: Good Eat’n is the plant-based snack company Paul launched in partnership with GoPuff after changing his diet to be primarily plant-based.] We have drinks. I am definitely drinking some red wine glasses. We will have music underway. It is literally the best moment.

12:30 am: Shut up a littleeye
At the end of the night, I will see everyone outside. I hug my children, I would say he kisses my children, but I don't know if my daughter will still let me kiss her, and then I will go to bed.
