Delta has resumed service to Shannon Airport for the first time in five years.
The airline now operates daily summer seasonal flights between New York JFK and Shannon; The route was last run in 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Delta has also made the decision to deploy the larger Boeing 767-300 on the route, instead of the originally planned 757-200.
Shannon Airport said the move would add more than 3,600 seats this summer, and Delta offers about 3,000 seats weekly between the two airports and up to 46,000 seats total over the course of seasonal service.
The schedules are as follows:
- Flight DL284 departs New York JFK at 23:20 and arrives in Shannon at 10:50 the next day.
- Flight DL285 departs Shannon at 12:50 and arrives at New York JFK Airport at 15:20.
In fact, Shannon was the first Irish airport served by Delta in 1984; Currently, the airline also operates year-round flights between JFK and Dublin, and seasonal services from Atlanta, Boston and Minneapolis St Paul to the Irish capital.
