China Eastern Airlines doubles its services in Budapest – Business Traveler

China Eastern Airlines and its subsidiary Shanghai Airlines will significantly increase their presence in the Hungarian market with additional flights, Budapest airport confirmed.

With the start of daylight saving time, flights between Shanghai and Budapest will be upgraded to a daily service, instead of three times a week currently.

China Eastern will send a four-class Boeing 787-9 operated by Shanghai Airlines to Budapest, including four first-class suites, 26 business class seats, 28 premium economy class seats and 227 regular economy class seats.

Separately, China Eastern and Shanghai Airlines also offer twice-weekly direct service between Budapest and Ningbo, not far from Shanghai. This route is also operated by four-class 787-9 Dreamliners.

In addition to the Shanghai expansion, flag carrier Air China will also increase its flight frequencies to Beijing from Budapest in the upcoming summer season.

In the future, Air China will operate services between Beijing and Budapest three times a week, up from the two weekly services currently offered.

Star Alliance airline deploys a three-class 787-9 in Beijing-Budapest, with 30 seats in business class, 34 in premium economy class and 229 in regular economy class.

Budapest Airport says it is targeting more flights from China and hopes to announce a new route to southern China soon.

“We are pleased to witness renewed growth in the Chinese market, which will see our round-trip seating capacity between Budapest and China increase by 51% this summer compared to S23. The expansion aligns with our commitment to providing diverse and convenient travel options to connect Budapest with key destinations in China,” said Balazs Bogats, CCO of Budapest Airport.

“Recognising the economic importance and growing links between Hungary and the Pearl River Delta region, which encompasses Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, Budapest Airport is keen to foster greater connectivity with this dynamic area,” Bogáts added. .
