Cathay Pacific to introduce free Wi-Fi for business class passengers – Business Traveler

Cathay Group chief executive Ronald Lam has outlined plans to extend free onboard Wi-Fi to first class passengers later this year.

In a New Year message sent to loyalty program members, Lam said Cathay Pacific aimed to expand free Wi-Fi to both business class passengers and Cathay Diamond members by mid-2024.

The email provided customers with an update on the group’s plans to renew its fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Last year, Cathay teased the new ‘Aria’ business class suite that will debut on the refreshed 777s, and Lam also confirmed that the modernized aircraft will also feature a new premium economy cabin.

Finally, Lam provided a general update on the airline’s network post-Covid-19, with 70 percent of pre-pandemic flights now restored.

The group’s most recently released traffic figures reported that 1,633,145 passengers were carried during November 2023, an increase of 210 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

In the first 11 months of 2023, the number of passengers carried increased by 709.2 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
