Cathay Pacific expands 1 ticket, 1 tree initiative to include cargo
Dark/Light Mode (07/24/24) Cathay Pacific's fourth '1 Ticket, 1 Tree' initiative will take place this year from 25 to 31 July.
The Hong Kong-based airline has pledged to plant one mangrove tree in Southeast Asia for every airline ticket purchased in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam during that period.
The airline will take into account tickets purchased on the Cathay website and mobile app, as well as those booked by corporate customers through Cathay agents.

“Given the vital role that mangrove forests play in supporting local communities and protecting their livelihoods, doing our part to ensure they grow and thrive resonates deeply with us,” said Dominic Perret, Cathay Regional General Manager for Southeast Asia.
This year, Cathay is expanding the plan to include cargo shipments across the region, introducing “1 Ton, 1 Tree,” where it commits to planting one mangrove tree for every ton of cargo booked by Cathay Cargo agents and shippers in Southeast Asia from 25 to 31 July 2024.
Since its launch in 2021, the annual “1 Ticket, 1 Tree” initiative has resulted in the planting of 30,000 mangrove trees.
“We are very excited to have our freight forwarders and shippers join our tree planting efforts this year,” said Ashish Kapur, Cathay’s Regional Director for Cargo for Southeast Asia. “Our aim is to raise awareness about the crucial role our mangrove forests play in our ecosystem and make it easier for anyone to get involved and make a meaningful impact on our local communities in the region. We have been speaking to our cargo partners on the ground and the response from them has been overwhelmingly positive.”
