British Airways signs interline agreement with South African CemAir – Business Traveler

British Airways has launched new interline services with South African regional airline CemAir.

The agreement allows for single ticket bookings and baggage transfers on BA routes to Cape Town and Johannesburg, to destinations including Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Durban, Margate, Hoedspruit, Plettenberg Bay, George, Maun and Victoria Falls.

BA currently operates double daily flights from Heathrow to Johannesburg, and up to three daily flights to Cape Town on selected days during peak season.

The news follows BA's codeshare deal with South African regional airline AirLink last year.

Commenting on the news, Miles van der Molen, CEO of CemAir, said:

“As we continue our expansion during the post-Covid recovery period, we realize that now more than ever partnerships are key to our success.

“Working with market leaders like British Airways is further demonstration of our commitment to our customers to provide them with the best service and value.”

British Airways previously had a franchise agreement with South African airline Comair, which operated domestic flights under the BA brand, but the airline went into liquidation in 2022 after failing to raise new funding.
