BA Cityflyer will densify the Embraer 190 fleet – Business Traveler

BA Cityflyer, a regional subsidiary of British Airways, will renew its fleet of 20 Embraer 190 aircraft with new stylish seats.

Aircraft operate mainly from London City Airport, as well as serving selected routes from Edinburgh and Southampton during LCY weekend downtime.

BA has confirmed that it will “reconfigure its Embraer 190 aircraft as part of our commitment to offering more choice to our customers”, in a move it says will add “60,000 additional seats in the 2024 summer season alone”.

“The aircraft will be fitted with new slimline seats to maximize space and comfort for our customers while offering competitive fares from London City Airport,” the airline continued.

business traveler requested more details about the move, including the number of additional seats to be installed on the plane, the manufacturer and characteristics of the seats, and the timeline for the refurbishment, but British Airways was unable to provide further information at this time.

However a thread on the flyertalk.com forum shows screenshots of seat maps taken from ba.com that suggest that once refitted, the Embraer 190 will offer eight additional seats in two rows, increasing capacity from 98 to 106 seats.

business traveler will report more on the development when more details are available.
