Dark/Light Mode (07/25/24) Air Tahiti has signed an order for four ATR 72-600 aircraft, as well as an eight-year Global Maintenance Agreement (GMA).
Deliveries of the new aircraft are planned between 2025 and 2028, and will be used to address both flight frequency and capacity, as well as to improve the overall passenger and crew experience.
Based at Faa'a International Airport (PPT) in Papeete, Air Tahiti has been using ATR aircraft for nearly 40 years and currently operates a fleet of 11 aircraft, consisting of nine ATR 72-600s and two ATR 42-600s.

“Air Tahiti has been a cornerstone of Tahiti and its islands for over 65 years, facilitating not only travel but also a better quality of life,” said Edouard Wong Fat, CEO of Air Tahiti. “By ensuring our communities have easy access to essential goods, services and cultural experiences, we have also helped boost the local economy and tourism. The ATR fleet has been instrumental in these efforts and will continue to enable us to offer reliable and responsible connectivity.”
The airline also renewed ATR's hourly maintenance package for eight years. Under the GMA, ATR will provide repair, overhaul and line-replaceable unit sharing services.
“The trust that Air Tahiti has placed in us over many years is a testament to our commitment to offering the most efficient, comfortable and low-emission regional aircraft,” said Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, CEO of ATR. “In French Polynesia, where air services are particularly vital, our aircraft, which emit 45% less CO2 compared to similarly sized regional aircraft, are ideal for responsible travel. This region, with ATR’s shortest and one of its longest inter-island flights, highlights the importance of our mission. At ATR, we are focused on supporting affordable regional mobility while aligning with sustainability goals.”
