Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines expand joint alliance – Business Traveler

Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have welcomed the reauthorization of their joint alliance for a further five years until March 2029.

Over the course of the 10-year partnership, Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines have increased seat capacity between New Zealand and Singapore by almost 50 per cent.

Following this extension, and subject to regulatory approval, the joint venture partners will operate a total of four daily seasonal services between Auckland and Singapore from October 27, 2024 to March 29, 2025.

With the fourth daily seasonal service between Auckland and Singapore just around the corner, the companies will jointly operate 38 weekly return services between New Zealand and Singapore during peak months, including the non-stop service from Singapore to Christchurch. This translates into more than 893,000 places available each year.

Mike Williams, Air New Zealand's director of alliances and transformation, says the partnership plays a key role in connecting New Zealand to the world.

“Since the alliance launched in early 2015, the two flag carriers have together carried more than 4.6 million passengers between New Zealand, Singapore and beyond,” Williams said.

“The partnership gives New Zealanders access to the world through Singapore Airlines' vast network beyond Singapore's gateway to destinations in Europe, India and Southeast Asia.”

In other Air New Zealand news, the Auckland-based flag carrier said earlier this month in an update that delayed delivery of its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners means its new 'Skynest' product will not be on board until the new plane arrives in 2025. .

However, the airline's modernization program for its existing Boeing 787 fleet remains on schedule and new cabins will debut later this year, including new Business Premier Luxe suites with fully closing doors and dining space. for two.
