With its latest A321 neo, Air Astana increased the number of seats in economy class to 156 seats, from 151 previously, while the business remains in a 28-seat configuration, alternating 2-2 and 1-1.

The fleet expansion reflects Air Astana's strategy to increase its fleet to 80 aircraft by the end of 2028, says the Kazakh premium flag carrier.

Mainline Air Astana currently has 32 aircraft, while its low-cost airline FlyArystan has increased its operational fleet to 18 aircraft.

Air Astana Group currently serves more than 90 destinations in Kazakhstan, Central Asia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, China, Germany, Greece, India, Korea, Montenegro, Netherlands, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

Starting in 2025, Air Astana will add its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and plans to fly them to destinations such as New York, its chief executive, Peter Foster, told Business Traveler Asia-Pacific in Almaty last year.

On the 787-9, Air Astana will launch for the first time a proper premium economy product, as well as 30 premium business class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.
